Although Chicago is known for deep dish pizza and Italian beef, we also love a good juice bar! I’ve compiled a list of all my favorite go-to healthy restaurants in Chicago.
To me, “healthy” is not limited to green juices and salads. Healthy is also fresh, organic, and local ingredients. This list is a mix of “green juice/salad” and “local/fresh” spots.
Note: all recommended dishes are vegan. Not all restaurants listed are vegan.
1. Sweet Green
A “Subway” concept that’s actually fresh. Sweet Green gives the option to build your own salad or bowl, or order off the menu. I always opt for ordering the Spicy Thai Salad off the menu. *drools*

2. Protein Bar
Fast, casual chain health spot perfect for a work lunch. Protein Bar has salad bowls, wraps, smoothies, and breakfast. It’s my go-to downtown.

3. Alice and Friends‘ Vegan Kitchen
My FAVORITE vegan spot in Chicago! Alice and Friends’ uses fresh and organic ingredients. It is evident the food is cooked with love.

4. Lyfe Kitchen
Modern, casual chain for the health-conscious soul. Lyfe Kitchen is great for an upscale lunch or a casual dinner.

5. Left Coast Food + Juice
Hip health joint perfect for a solo lunch date with your laptop. Left Coast is equipped with the most authentic açaí bowl in Chicago. (I’ve eaten açaí bowls in the motherland of Brazil, I can confidently say this.)

A brunch spot with “diner” feels.

Chic, fresh dining restaurant perfect for a date.

9. The Vegetarian Express & Juice Bar
Fast, casual vegetarian restaurant perfect for a quick lunch. I recommend grabbing a juice and fresh sweet potato burger or tamale.

10. Libanais Restaurant and Bakery
Casual, family-run Lebanese restaurant on the Northside of Chicago. Meals are affordable and service is great. This place is a hidden treasure!
