6 Best Vegan Restaurants in Lima, Peru

OH MY GUAVA. If you’re veggie or vegan (or just like good food), PUT LIMA ON YO LIST. I’d come here again just for all the beautiful vegan food I’ve devoured. Here’s a list of 6 of my favorite spots as well as some Veg-Tips for Lima at the bottom!

1. Raw Café

Raw café is the perfect place to go to for raw vegan salads and desserts. They have THREE kinds of their own kombucha, my favorite being the Flor de Jamaica (Yes, I tried all of them). They also have fresh juices and smoothies.

What to order: Camote and Cheese bowl, Flor de Jamaica kombucha, and a peanut butter chocolate waffle de avena for dessert!

Tip: this place gets packed at peak hours and they tend to run out of their raw desserts towards the end of the day.

2. Veda Restaurante

One word. PIZZA. Go to Veda Restaurante and order every single frickin’ gluten-free vegan pizza on the menu. We ordered one with pineapple and pecans and I almost cried. They also have a menu of the day, where you can get the daily special with fresh juice. We had the watermelon mint lemonade and I drank 4 glasses (free refills!). This is the perfect place if you are a gluten-free vegan.

What to order: watermelon mint lemonade and all of their gluten-free pizzas!

Tip: For a cheaper option, go for the menu of the day.

3. El Jardin de Jazmin

Jazmin, you blew my mind. The artisan flavors of everything took my breath away. We got the black bean nuggets with guacamole and an anahata taco. They were so delicious that we asked for the menu again and ordered the chakra veggie burger with barbeque sauce for dessert. You can taste that everything is freshly hand made with love.

What to order: Chakra veggie burger and black bean nuggets! (and everything on the menu.)

4. Sabor y Vida

ECONOMICAL option. It’s cheap AND delicious. The menu of the day is displayed at the entrance. Darien and I pointed to which appetizer and main course we wanted before we even sat down. I believe each of our meals were around $5 for a juice, bread, appetizer, entrée, and dessert.

What to order: Menu of the day

5. Seitan Urban Bistro

VEGAN SUSHI. Every Saturday night they have sushi rolls specials and they are SO GOOD! They have a ‘3 rolls for the price of 2 rolls” as well as “2 rolls for 30 soles ($9)” deal. It’s the perfect place for a nice dinner date. The veggie burgers are decent, but I do not recommend the pasta.

What to order: vegan sushi rolls on Saturday night!

6. Mara Biomarket & Café

This is the perfect place to get the almond milk latte you’ve been craving and shop for a couple organic vegan specialty items you miss from back home. It is a little café with sandwiches, coffee, smoothies, and breakfast items as well as a small shop. Whether it be pink Himalayan salt, apple cider vinegar, or gluten free oatmeal– they have it! There’s also organic beauty products, nut butters, bread, frozen goods, vitamins and most importantly, kombucha! This place isn’t the cheapest option, but worth checking out!

Other Veg-Tips for Lima:

  • Market: Mercado de Surquillo (No. 1) is a great place for fresh fruits and veggies. Also, I bought cheap chia seeds, honey, and stevia there.
  • Coffee: Starbucks has soy milk (I’m always on the hunt for a good iced almond milk latte.. I settled with soy milk because there’s a Starbucks on every corner)
  • Super markets: I found soy yogurt, peanut butter, granola, coconut oil, soy and almond milk… lots of good things at almost every super market in Miraflores!

Note: all of these places are in the Miraflores neighborhood, the most popular tourist location in Lima.

Lima, you have stolen my heart. A lot of the restaurants listed, I went back two and three times because they were so frickin’ good. Lima has easily had the best cuisine in the world.

What country do you think has the best cuisine? Anything I missed in Lima? Comment below!
